Update - 1/1 - Gray Matter, Usagi Yojimbo, Kenseiden

Again, got a rushed update because of the continuing deluge of holidays, which I am currently recovering from. First off is Gray Matter, Jane Jensen's latest adventure game that's been several years in the making. She's appropriately regarded as one of the best writers in gaming, and considering her last game was Gabriel Knight 3 nearly ten years ago, it's been a long time coming. Next up is Samurai Warrior: The Battles of Usagi Yojimbo. I'd only really known of Usagi Yojimbo from a cameo in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series (and thus the toy line.) It wasn't until years later that I realized that it was an indie comic. I'd also seen the Commodore 64 game on the store shelves but never played it. This expansive article goes over the history of the character as well as the well-regarded game. And since I got it as Christmas present approximately 22 years ago, I wrote up a quick piece about Kenseiden, a Japanese mythology pseudo-equivalent to Castlevania released for the Sega Master System. No new featured article this week, so you'll have to do with reading about Ketsui again. Happy new year everyone, and hopefully 2011 will be substantially less awful than 2010 was.

  1. 2010 wasn't that bad but 2011 could still turn out much better.

Happy new year btw, hope you have a great time and discover even more awesome, obscure and downright odd games this year.
