Aero the Acrobat on Press the Buttons

Do you like Aero the Acrobat? I can't recall much about him, except a brief Saturday afternoon in my youth where I rented it and felt vaguely disappointed. Still, amongst the numerous mascot animal scoundrals of the day, Sunsoft's variation didn't offend me on the same level as Bubsy and he's definitely not as dire as Awesome Possum. The folks over at Press The Buttons recently put up a pretty decent retrospective on him, which is definitely worth checking out. They even managed to dig up the original design document, if you want to see an example of how 16-bit games were conceived and planned. Being an American-developed game, it was also renamed Acrobat Kid for its Japanese release on the Gameboy Advance years later in 2002. It does make me want to take a look at Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel, which I had never bothered with.

  1. I have the first game on the SNES, and I never really got into it. It's not a bad game, but I never really felt like playing it. I suppose I could always give it another try though, since I already own it after all.
