Cybertroopers Virtual-Lawn

dai jou bu here. Haven't been able to do anything for the past week or so since I've been busy with real life lately!

Anyway, I found something quite odd while walking around in Sears. Since their logo kinda looks like Sega's it felt pretty weird when I found them selling a contraption like this in their store:

So yeah, some of you are probably thinking right now, "What does this lawn mower have to do with videogames?" Well, if you take a good look at the instruction sticker right between the spots where you place your feet when sitting down on the thing, steering this contraption is almost like controlling a Virturoid:

This lawn mower costs a little over 2000 dollars. And you thought Hori's asking price for their Xbox 360 Twin Sticks were expensive.

  1. Bizarre slightly-connected-to-videogames consumer goods... I like it! Reminds of a time I found a Nescafe brand of coffee in France, called simple: NES. I'm sure there's probably a lot of this stuff out there - which only the geekiest of gamers would recognise. It could make for a fun competition or something, with reader submissions.

  2. Well, there's of course always SEGAfredo.

  3. If I had mower like that then maybe cutting the grass wouldn't suck so much. I could just pretend I'm sucking at Virtual-on just like the good ol' days instead.

  4. I actually saw one of those things a week or two ago at Home Depot. If they weren't so damn expensive, I'd actually be tempted to buy one. It would make mowing more interesting, at the very least.

  5. Yeah it's just a zero-turn mower, they're quite common in lawncare. Fun things.
